Money Management

The Money Management Program (MMP) provides representative payee services for individuals in Santa Cruz County receiving Social Security benefits, who, because of their disabilities, need assistance in budgeting and managing their money. In their role as Representative Payee, MMP counselors create a monthly budget and process checks to pay rent and bills in a timely manner, ensuring that each client's basic needs for food, clothing and shelter are met. In some cases, this is done in a collaborative manner with the client and/or the County Mental Health Coordinator. MMP Counselors also provide individualized counseling to selected individuals to assist them in improving independent living skills, including money management.

To be eligible for the Money Management Program, individuals must be referred by County Mental Health or the County Homeless Person's Health Project.
