Encompass Community Services announced today that Shellee Stopera will be stepping down from her role as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.
“We thank Shellee for her contributions over the past six months and wish her the very best in her future endeavors,” said Elaine Johnson, Chair of the Encompass Board of Trustees. “We are grateful for her service.”
Ms. Stopera has shared with the Board that, upon reflection, Encompass is not the right long-term professional fit for her at this time. The Board respects her decision and appreciates the time and leadership she offered during her tenure.
In response, the Encompass Board of Trustees has unanimously appointed Kim Morrison as Interim CEO. Kim has served as the agency’s Chief Financial Officer for 8 years and led Encompass as Interim CEO earlier this year after Monica Martinez stepped down to assume her elected position on the Board of Supervisors. Kim's proven leadership, steady presence, and deep organizational knowledge make her well-suited to guide Encompass through this next chapter.
The Board of Trustees and leadership team remain focused on upholding the organization’s long-standing values, strengthening internal culture, and ensuring continued delivery of high-quality care to community members across Santa Cruz County. “We remain committed to serving the children, families, and individuals who rely on Encompass every day,” said Johnson. “With resilience and purpose, we will continue to move forward and honor the mission that has guided this organization for more than 50 years.”
