Encompass housing is reserved for people who have a diagnosis of a psychiatric disability, have low income, and also pass a criminal background check with good landlord references.
Applications are available at the Encompass Office - 380 Encinal Street, Suite 200, Santa Cruz - or you may download one below. There are three available housing applications because of living environment (shared vs. individual) and eligibility requirements. Note: due to high demand, it may take time for a vacancy to become available. Shared housing has a higher vacancy rate. Waitlists are available.
Please note: Encompass housing is NOT emergency housing. Applications are required. The rental price for all properties is 30% of income.
HUD Housing Master Application
Requirements: Applicants must meet low-income HUD requirements and have a verifiable psychiatric disability to qualify. Waitlist open.
There are 5 housing options available with the HUD Master Application:
- Casa Linda (Santa Cruz) - 1 bedroom apartments
- Casa de Exito (Watsonville) - 5 bedroom shared living space (currently all male)
- Monarch (3 properties in Watsonville, Capitola, and Santa Cruz) - all shared living spaces (currently all female)
Requirements: Applicants must be homeless or at risk of being homeless, meet low-income HUD requirements, and have a verifiable psychiatric disability to qualify. Waitlist open.
All Grace Commons apartments are all 1-bedroom.
Stepping Out Housing Application
Note: Applicants must have US citizenship, meet low-income HUD requirements, and have a verifiable psychiatric disability to qualify. Waitlist open.
One Stepping Out residence is 1-bedroom and two are 2-bedroom apartments.
